Nancy Kerry is an experienced City and Town Manager with more than 20 years of public service. Nancy’s servant-leadership style coupled with her highly productive work ethic have led her to be known as a ‘get-er-done’ and highly approachable leader.
Nancy recently relocated back to her home in Reno, Nevada to join her husband and family after having led the community of Frisco, Colorado through the pandemic. Frisco, Colorado is a truly iconic community. It’s where the “Main Street to the Rockies” boasts a setting reserved for those wishing to experience the magic of shopping, dining, and spending the night 9500 feet up in the Rocky Mountains, with every recreational opportunity within reach. Frisco, like the rest of the world, experienced unprecedented impacts from the global pandemic brought on by COVID-19. In leading the community, Nancy rapidly responded to the crisis in 2020 by establishing a Strategic Economic Response Team (SERT) within days of the stay-at-home public health orders.
Before joining the Town of Frisco, Nancy served as City Manager for the City of South Lake Tahoe for nearly 6 years. She served in that capacity while leading the City out of the Great Recession and into its Renaissance phase of economic expansion. During that time, the City refinanced its debts, eliminated unfunded financial liabilities for retiree health (saving the community tens of millions), passed a successful voter-approved initiative to fund new recreation amenities, redeveloped an old hotel in the center of town, and doubled the City’s reserves from $9.8M to $20+M. Prior to her tenure as City Manager, Nancy served the City of South Lake Tahoe as Redevelopment and Housing Manager, Public Communications Officer, and Assistant to previous City Managers.
And prior to her service in South Lake Tahoe, Nancy spent five years serving the community of Solana Beach, California assisting the City Manager, (shhhh the best position in City govnerment!) overseing human resources and organizational development, team-building, process improvement, and strategic communications. While there, she reorganization of the City and it’s operations to improve performance, established a “City University” to improve relations between community members and the City, implemened business processing standards to increase responsiveness to community through improved permitting standards.
Before her twently plus years leading government teams, Nancy spent a decade assessing operations for a variety of organizations, everything from manufacturing to grant-funded program evaluations.
Nancy has a proven track record as a strategic, results-oriented professional moving effortlessly between roles of manager, colleague, team member, and community facilitator. She is passionate about improving team performance, which results in improved responsiveness to stakeholders and community members.
Nancy also has a demonstrated record of success in resolving unfunded Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB). She has served as a member of the League of California Cities OPEB Task Force, helping to design and deliver new solutions for California public agencies to deliver health benefits marketplace. In South Lake Tahoe, Nancy led the city through a successful process in resolving its unfunded OPEB. Her advice on the subject has been published in local government publications, most notably Western Cities Magazine in May 2015.
Throughout her years in service to others, Nancy Kerry has demonstrated her committment to deliver excellent customer service (both internal and external) by cultivating high-performing teams within organizations.
