I am very pleased to recommend Ms. Nancy Kerry for the position of City Manager for your City. I have had the pleasure of working with Nancy for four and a half years with the City of South Lake Tahoe. I am currently the Public Works Director for the City and have worked in municipal government for nearly 34 years with the City of Fresno, Town of Mammoth Lakes and now the City of South Lake Tahoe. Nancy is by far the most exceptional City Manager I have worked with and was one of the main reasons I chose to make a change and move to South Lake Tahoe.
Nancy’s breadth of knowledge is extraordinary and her proactive solutions-oriented approach to solving tough issues is very impressive. Nancy was instrumental in helping the City of South Lake Tahoe resolve a long term, monumental retiree health care liability, and she did it in a way that was fair to retirees and current employees. Her persistence and ingenuity also played a role in finding new and creative solutions to address the impacts on the City’s budget due to the rising cost of CALPERS. Nancy’s actions have substantially improved the City’s long range financial outlook. Nancy knows how to achieve desired outcomes. However, one of her best qualities is that she cares deeply for, and wants only the best for her community. Nancy has always been fully engaged not only in her community, but outside the community with an eye on State and Federal actions that may affect her City.
South Lake Tahoe was fortunate to have such an effective leader. Engaged, knowledgeable, proactive, positive, helpful and fair are words to describe the way in which Nancy led the City of South Lake Tahoe. Her ability to bring people together to achieve results is impressive. Although we miss working with Nancy here in South Lake Tahoe she would be an amazing City Manager for your City and I highly recommend her.
