Town of Frisco Wins “Team of the Year” in the Business Excellence Awards
July 16, 2020
The Town of Frisco won the “Best Team of the Year” category in the Summit County Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards – the inaugural award in this new category. The Business Excellence Awards competition is open to all businesses operating in Summit County (both public and private), and was created to recognize and reward creativity, innovation, and achievements of business owners, operators and their employees across various industries of multiple sizes. Nominees are judged by a committee of independent members of the community representing both large and small businesses within Summit County.
The Best Team of the Year category was newly created for 2020, as a way for businesses to recognize their best asset – their employees.
“We are really proud that the Town of Frisco has received this award. This likely is one of the most important moments in modern history to be a high-functioning local government team that understands we are here to serve and support our community. Our team shatters the old perceptions of public employees by rising to deliver high-quality customer service every day. Our employees have exemplified what it means to work together to say yes to solutions and take risks while being flexible, nimble, and innovative during the response to this pandemic,” stated Mayor Hunter Mortensen.
“During this crisis, Town employees have done everything from working in other departments to save resources to re-imagining their roles to support local businesses through their work on Town’s Strategic Economic Response Team, the business assistance program, the Love Frisco campaign, and the Promenade. As a Council, we have seen incredible results from this team, as they implement our long-range goals and respond to this pandemic.”
Building and Strengthening #TeamFrisco
With the leadership of Town Manager Nancy Kerry, the Town of Frisco took on new initiatives to strengthen and build #TeamFrisco. These initiatives were described in the Summit County Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards application. The Town’s award application also included a video, which expressed the viewpoint of Town employees about #TeamFrisco.
“The employees serving the Frisco community are outstanding. Across the board, they exemplify the best in public service, and it shows in all we do. This past year we launched new employee excellence awards to recognize and incentivize their innovation, service to others, team spirit, and leadership. The employees are highly service-oriented and have demonstrated a commitment to the community and each other as we’ve navigated this crisis together and, as our video shows, we look for opportunities to have some fun too,” stated Town Manager Nancy Kerry.
“The true test of a team is when you call upon each team member in unexpected times of difficulty and without hesitation; they step into the gap, fill the need, and row together in one direction. #TeamFrisco is that team and they deserve this recognition. I’m so proud to stand alongside them and to be one member of a mighty team.”
